# Commerzbank

> Rebuilding mobile banking for two million customers.

- **Client:** Commerzbank
- **Role:** Product designer + Design Ops
- **Timeframe:** 2017 – 2021
- **Impact:** 2M+ users
- **Live:** https://commerzbank.de

## Outcomes

- **2M+** app users
- **13+** designers on one system

## Context

Commerzbank was rebuilding its banking app as more customers moved from branches to mobile. It needed to make everyday banking and self-service easier for people with very different levels of financial confidence.

## What I did

At Neugelb, I led UX and UI work across the app. I also helped maintain the design system and improve how the design team worked as the studio grew from four people to more than 80 across disciplines.

## Key decisions

We made common banking tasks easier to find and understand, reduced visual complexity and created reusable patterns for a team of more than 13 designers. The system kept the app consistent as more teams contributed to it.

## Outcome

The app reached more than two million users. A shared design system supported more than 13 designers working on the mobile experience.
